Happy Friday, friends! I’m so excited to share this Princeton engagement session today along with a love story filled with Robin Hood and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Jay and I always love to shoot in Princeton because it’s such a lovely town and the campus architecture is so beautiful. We met up with Lisa and Shane on a warm summer evening just about a year away from their wedding day. We split our time with them into two parts – we spent the first half on the university campus and the second half in town. Our first stop was Nassau Hall, and Lisa and Shane warmed up to the camera right away. They made our job easy and we were ready to continue onto Cannon Green in no time. We found a perfect bench for Lisa and Shane to spend a few minutes reminiscing about special moments in their relationship and there we took some of the sweetest photos from the shoot! Next, we were excited to see that the sun was reflecting off the white marble of Clio Hall so we immediately headed up to the columns and took advantage of the light for as long as we could. For the second half of our session we headed into town for some adorable photos at Thomas Sweet, their favorite ice cream parlor. It was the perfect way to end our session. Lisa and Shane, congratulations on your engagement! We are so excited for your wedding day next year! Enjoy these highlights from our time together!

How did you meet?

Lisa: We randomly ended up in the same townhouse dorm in our junior year at The College of New Jersey. I’m pretty shy but I felt comfortable with Shane very early on.

Shane: We placed into the same house in college. After a few months into our Junior year we started hanging out together along with a group of friends in the same house.

What do you remember about your first date?

Lisa: We didn’t know that our first date was our first date at the time. We were supposed to watch DuckTales together (a show we had both enjoyed as kids), but instead we decided to go out for dinner and then to a movie (Robin Hood). After the movie, we went back to my house and watched even more movies until my parents told him that it was too late and he had to leave. As he was leaving, he kissed me good night. Even though I was nervous, I was also happy and excited.

Shane: We were talking through text message quite a bit and I mentioned how I had some episodes of DuckTales and she asked if I could come up and watch them. After getting there we went to a dinner and a movie and the night ended with a kiss.

When did you know he/she was the one?  Was there something he/she did? etc.

Lisa: I don’t know if there was a specific moment when I knew he was the one. We started dating when we were in college and I definitely wasn’t thinking about marriage at that point. It just became clear the longer we were together that when I pictured the future, I pictured Shane in it.

Shane: I remember thinking she was very cute from the moment I first saw her and every time we spent time together we would have so much fun. But I think I knew she was the one when I couldn’t help but think about her all the time no matter where I was.

Tell us about the proposal.

Lisa: When we met, Shane brought up my favorite book series, Harry Potter, to try to get me to talk to him and bring me out of my shell. When we heard that the Diagon Alley section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was opening at Universal Studios in the summer of 2014, he insisted that we make that part of our next vacation. Despite a four hour plane delay and trouble with the hotel the night before, we had a fantastic day in Diagon Alley. Shortly before the park would be closing, Shane pulled me over to a secluded spot, reminded me that Harry Potter was one of the first things that we talked about, and popped the question!

Shane: I knew she really enjoyed Harry Potter and thought that proposing in a place that was almost like being in a Harry Potter book would make her happy. So I convinced her to go on vacation with me to Florida and proposed in the new Harry Potter section in Universal.

Tell us one thing you love about each other.

Lisa: I love Shane’s sense of humor. He is always able to make me laugh and smile, even after I’ve had a stressful day.

Shane: There are many things but the biggest is how comfortable she makes me feel, like I have no issues in the world when I’m with her.

Besides getting married, what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Lisa: I’m looking forward to spending the day surrounded by our family and friends.

Shane: I’m looking forward to the hibachi station during cocktail hour.
