Not to be a Debbie Downer but… how is your blogging going? Are you finally publishing content on a regular basis like you hoped to do this year? Yes? Congrats!! You’re amazing!! Come back next Monday for my next post for photographers. No? Well, then, this post is for you. It’s for the photographer who vowed to blog consistently this year yet keeps falling into the same trap of not knowing what to blog about week after week. Or perhaps you finally figure out what to blog about but you can’t seem to fit blogging into your workflow.
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” ~ Albert Einstein
You’ve probably heard that quote plenty of times, right? If you can apply it to your lack of blogging then today’s post is going to be very helpful to you. In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m on a mission to help you blog consistently. But in order to do that, it’s important to do an honest self-assessment so that you can avoid disappointment. I’m a firm believer in using personal reflections to make progress (must be the former teacher in me!) so today I’m sharing 5 ways you’re sabotaging your blog followed by my surefire way to finally find success in blogging.
5 Ways You’re Sabotaging Your Blog
- You don’t know who you’re writing to. Or worse – you’re trying to write to everyone. If you haven’t sat down to identify your ideal client yet, you’re most definitely sabotaging your blog. Because when you’re writing to the masses, you can’t possibly attract the one person you’re trying to attract.
- You don’t know your blog’s purpose. You know you should be blogging but you’re not really sure why. You also don’t understand how blogging can help you grow your business.
- You’re not creating engaging content. You equate blogging to throwing together a post from your most recent shoot, all your blog posts sound the same, and your blog traffic is non-existent.
- You don’t have a blogging schedule. Some times you blog on Monday mornings, some times on Wednesday evenings, and some times late on Friday night. Which means your readers never know what to expect from you and when it’ll suddenly appear. And Google is not liking this current state of affairs.
- You don’t have an editorial calendar. You think you’ll naturally remember to blog every week but we’re six weeks into the new year and you have yet to publish an engaging blog post this year.
If any of these sound familiar, I’m here to help. Registration is open for my next blogging workshop and we’ll be tackling each and every one of these issues and more. I’ll be teaching you how to identify your ideal client and blog purpose, create blogging workflows and systems that work, never run out of blog topic ideas, and be consistent with your blogging. Not only that, but I’ll be teaching you how to optimize a blog post correctly, how to write content with SEO in mind, and how to make sure you are getting it in front of your ideal client. You’ll also get my worksheets, resources, and even an editorial calendar so that you can lay down the foundation for a successful blog this year.
