The Couple
I love when our couples share their stories about how they met because I know these stories are always so inspiring! Like several of our couples this year, Elizabeth and Matt met online when they least expected it. I imagine this #idalialovestory brings hope to all the single ladies who follow our blog so thank you to Elizabeth and Matt for sharing their story with us! Something else I love about Elizabeth and Matt’s love story is their proposal. Matt actually proposed to Elizabeth for her birthday! Can you imagine expecting a few balloons and a new sweater and ending up with a diamond on your finger? How perfect!
The Wedding Day
As soon as I arrived at Elizabeth’s family’s home and saw the beautiful details Elizabeth had ready for me, I knew this was going to be a gorgeous wedding. My jaw just about dropped when I saw the gorgeous bouquets and I didn’t think anything could top that, but then I got to see Elizabeth’s custom gown. After visiting a few bridal salons, she knew what she was looking for but struggled to find the one gown that had all these features. Thanks to a dear friend who is also a designer, she had the classic and elegant gown that she imagined getting married in. It was the perfect dress for the timeless wedding she and Matt had planned.
Elizabeth and Matt tied the knot at Elizabeth’s family’s church. It was actually the church where her parents were married years ago and where she was baptized, too. Getting married there meant a lot to Elizabeth and her family and I have to say that it goes down as one of my favorite ways to choose where to get married! One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was the church exit when Elizabeth and Matt exited with the happiest smiles on their faces while their friends and family threw rose petals in the air. The joy on their faces was just so wonderful! After the ceremony we headed off to Indian Trail Club. Elizabeth and Matt chose this as their wedding venue after Elizabeth instantly fell in love with it after visiting it with her mother. Our couple just loved the minimalistic approach that would allow them to design the wedding they dreamt of. Wait until you see the gorgeous florals they had in the reception room – they were to die for!
The most unique part of the wedding day happened during the portrait session when we had barely started the bridal party photos. The sky suddenly got dark and we all wondered how much time we had left until the rain. We were probably a little too optimistic because it started to pour while we were still outside. Everyone had to quickly run and take shelter in the ballroom – it was definitely the craziest moment of the day! We knew it was just a passing storm, though, so we decided to make the most of our time by taking some portraits indoors before heading back out once the rain had passed. We were later rewarded with some sun peeking through the trees and we were so happy to get a few sunny photos for our happy couple. Enjoy this recap of the day!
Elizabeth and Matt, we hope you are loving Santorini, Mykonos, and Naxos! Enjoy sipping your morning coffee on your balcony and your evening champagne while watching the most spectacular sunsets. Congratulations!!

Curious about the flowers in Elizabeth’s bouquet? Here you go: White Majolica Rose, White Ranunculus, Tibet Rose, White Sweet Pea, Dusty Miller, White Lisianthus, Seeded Eucalyptus, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, Patience Garden Rose. So pretty!
The sun came out right at the end of cocktail hour so we asked Elizabeth and Matt if they’d like to outside for a few more portraits and we’re so glad they said yes! There’s nothing like a little sun on a wedding day!
Here is one of our favorite parts of the reception! Elizabeth and Matt did their version of the Dollar Dance. This is a dance where all of the guests offer a dollar for a chance to dance with the bride. As the tradition goes, the maid of honor wears an apron and the mother of the bride puts a ‘babushka’ on the bride’s head while the guests dance a few steps with the bride. Elizabeth wore the same babushka her mother wore at her wedding 37 years ago! So many people got a turn at dancing with Elizabeth until her groom came to get her back – it was so fun!
