Lisa and Shane’s wedding has been published in Carats and Confetti! It’s the perfect excuse to re-live their wedding day on the blog, so today we’re doing just that! These two originally found us through another former bride thanks to the tagging feature on Facebook (brides who tag yourselves in our photos or tag us in yours – THANK YOU!!) and we had the honor of photographing their wedding at the Pen Ryn Mansion last year. As soon as we arrived on the estate grounds, we knew this one was going to be wonderful. We just love classic weddings and Lisa and Shane’s day had all the makings of the timeless weddings we love to capture. From a historic mansion to a gorgeous ball gown to the prettiest and softest bouquets, this wedding had me swooning all day long! “As soon as the weather forecast started including our wedding day, we were disappointed to see that there was a 90-100% chance of thunderstorms. We majorly lucked out, because we woke up at dawn to see that the sky was steadily clearing up! The ceremony was held at St. George’s Church in Titusville, NJ. We had a lovely Catholic ceremony and then exited the church while all of our guests blew bubbles. After the ceremony everyone headed over to Pen Ryn Mansion for the reception. We loved Pen Ryn as soon as we saw it–we loved its history and character, and its beautiful views of the Delaware River.”
“My dress was an Allure lace and tulle ballgown. I had always wanted a ballgown and am known of my love of lace, so when I found this dress I knew that it was perfect for me. (The best part was the sparkly lace back!) The flowers were mixes of pink and white peonies, roses, and hydrangeas. On my bouquet, I had five charms with pictures of our deceased grandparents so that they could be with us on our day.”
“We wanted to make sure that our wedding felt like ‘us’. After selecting Pen Ryn Mansion as our venue, we knew that we wanted a classic, romantic vibe to go with the beautiful historic home. I knew from other weddings that I’d been to that I loved pink flowers, and light blue just makes me happy, so we primarily used those colors with accents of gold, silver, and lace. We also added a few details to show our love of travel–naming the tables after places we’ve been together, using “luggage tags” as escort cards, and having a canvas with a globe on it as our guestbook.”
Lisa’s advice for other couples:
- “Take time to eat. I was too excited to eat much and missed a lot of the treats I’d been looking forward to.”
- “Go to the cocktail hour–the best food is there and it gives you extra time to mingle with your guests.”
- “Don’t leave for your honeymoon the morning after the wedding. We wished we’d had time to relax the next day.”
- “Remember that everything will come together, and the most important thing is that at the end of the day, you’ll be married to the love of your life!”
