Stefanie and Michael found us thanks to one of our past couples so we knew from the start that they’d be wonderful to work with, and this session proves it! They are such a sweet, easy-going couple, and they are so.in.love. Stefanie seriously can’t stop smiling when she’s around Michael and Michael totally enjoys sweeping Stefanie off her feet – figuratively and literally!
When Stefanie and Michael said they wanted to go down to Congress Hall in Cape May for their engagement session, I was pretty excited! As much as it’s nice to shoot at familiar places, it’s also so much fun to shoot at completely new-to-me places, and I had never shot at Congress Hall before. Cape May is where Michael proposed to Stefanie on May 24, 2015, so it made perfect sense for them to return their for their engagement photos, and I was happy to get to know these two some more as we chatted about their relationship, life, and upcoming wedding. We’re so excited to be a part of their big day!
Stefanie and Michael met back when they were in high school so in a lot of ways, this post was a long time coming!! They were friends first and shortly started dating after their Senior Prom. They have a lovely proposal story, but I’ll let you read their own version of their story below, as you look through a few favorites from my time with them. Get excited for their July 2018 wedding, it’ll be here in no time!
Cape May Engagement Photos
The proposal
We had been going with Michael’s parents to Cape May during previous summers and we really loved staying at Congress Hall. Michael’s birthday is usually during Memorial Day weekend so he had told me that we would be going with his parents, sisters, brother-in-law, and nephew to Congress Hall. We all spent the day at the beach and I was told that we would all be taking a family photo on the front lawn of Congress Hall by the flag pole. Michael and I went down earlier while everyone finished getting ready. We sat down on the white lawn chairs to have a drink while we waited for his family to come down. It was a windy day and I kept insisting that we go back inside to wait, but Michael gave me his jacket to keep me outside. He even stood up in front of me because I kept looking back to see if his family was coming. At one point while we were talking (or I was complaining), I looked off to the side and instantly saw my dad and mom followed by my sister and his family. I was confused and remember saying, “What is my family doing here?” When I looked back at Michael, he was getting down on one knee :)
