Rosemary and John met through mutual friends in New York City while they were out for dinner and drinks with their friends. It didn’t take long for them to realize they had a lot more in common than they originally thought. After a few years of dating, John popped the question to Rosemary in NYC where it all began! Once they were engaged, it was time to start planning the wedding of their dreams.
When Rosemary and John started looking at wedding venues, they knew that they would want a venue that was warm, inviting, and beautiful. The Ashford Estate was a no brainer once they saw it! Rosemary and John immediately fell in love with all of the available spaces on the property. For their wedding design, Rosemary and John wanted to incorporate elements of their heritage. They showcased Rosemary’s Indian culture by incorporating color and glamour while incorporating the warmth of the midwest, where John is from. Working with Feather & Rock Events, the two were able to create a balanced and glamorous look for their wedding day full of subtle touches from both of their lives. They decided to stick with a fairly neutral color palette for the day, using hints of blush and lavender to make their decor pop!
When Rosemary and John’s wedding day arrived, the two got ready at the estate with their families and friends. I love that they got to take full advantage of the various rooms in order to fully enjoy everything the Ashford Estate has to offer. Rosemary got ready in the bridal suite with her bridesmaids while John and his groomsmen settled into the groom’s lounge. When it came time for their first look, Rosemary and John chose to see each other for the first time that day in the foyer and staircase of the estate and John was smiling ear to ear as his bride approached him. For their portrait session, Rosemary and John decided to stay indoors due to the summer heat, humidity, and even pouring rain at one point, so we made use of the estate foyer and library to use a backdrop for their portraits. Once Rosemary and John had tied the knot in a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Gregory the Great, we found a pocket of time to capture some outdoor photos of the newlyweds so that Rosemary and John could have an epic veil shot in front of their stunning venue.
Rosemary and John’s reception was held in the grand conservatory where they welcomed their guests into a luxurious space surrounded by beautiful glass windows. I loved seeing Rosemary and John show their loved ones just how much they love and appreciate them and how their love is reciprocated. From heartfelt speeches to the sweetest of parent dances, this wedding reception was full of emotion. But my favorite part of the reception was when Rosemary surprised John by appearing in her traditional Indian dress. I just loved this! Not only was it a fun surprise for the guests, too, but it was also so neat to see Rosemary incorporate her cultural background in this way.
Rosemary and John, what a wedding day you had! Thank you for allowing us to capture the story of the day as it unfolded. Congratulations and best wishes for a wonderful mini-moon in San Diego and honeymoon in South Africa!
