As a former teacher, I place a lot of value in education and I’m so thankful for all the resources out there that have allowed me to learn how to establish, grow, and run a photography business. Something I’ve been focusing on a lot since I left my teaching job last June is giving back to the photography community as much as I can. I love helping other photographers grow their businesses and invest a lot of time in doing that through my FB group, the For Photographers series on our blog, and in-person/online Coaching Sessions, but today I get to share a completely new resource with you that I’m so excited about! I’ve been listening to podcasts now for about two years and I can safely say that they have been my number one source of free photography education. I’ll have to write an updated post on my current favorite podcasts for photographers soon but for now, I’d like to introduce you to The Beginner Photography Podcast. This podcast is hosted by Raymond Hatfield and he interviews photographers who share practical and actionable tips any beginner photographer can implement right away through their experience and stories of their time in the industry. I’m honored to share that I was a guest on his podcast recently and today, my episode went live! It is full of tips for the photographer who is just getting into photography, is thinking about starting a business, is at the beginning stages of their business, or is just looking for ways to continue to grow. I’d love it if you tuned in to my episode because I think you’ll get a lot out of it. Here are some topics we discussed:
- How I got started in photography
- How our business got started
- What we did to grow our business
- When I decided to leave my teaching career to make the leap into full-time photography
- How we book weddings without paying for advertising
- The systems we use to stay organized
- Tips for running your photography business as a side hustle
