Welcome to our very first behind-the-scenes blog post! I have to say, I don’t know how we managed to compile enough images to put this post together because, quite frankly, we are terrible at remembering to take behind-the-scenes photos! We promise to be better in 2016 because we had such a good time going through these images, remembering all the fun moments we’ve had together while making memories for our beautiful couples! These images remind us why we love shooting weddings so much and we are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing people. So if you ever wondered what we look like on the job or you’re just looking for a good laugh, below are our favorite behind-the-scenes photos to date.
Sometimes we take car selfies on the way to weddings:
We love our detail shots =) And we love when Jay does video and our second shooter, Kim, gets to take embarrassing pictures of us while we take them.
Jay getting in touch with his feminine side, which happens occasionally, a lot.
Though he’s much happier on the masculine side, here with groom details.
Sometimes his dogs are barkin’, so he’ll ask for a test shot wherever the closest chair is.
Once it’s time for the first look, Jay sometimes likes to torture our grooms by delaying the big reveal. He always says something about “icing the kicker.”
Alex likes to play tricks on the grooms, too!
Our second shooter, Kim, and video assistant, Emtiaz, clearly have mixed feelings about being in this shot!
We never get tired of walking down aisles together.
Where’s Waldo?
Love having this guy by my side day in and day out!
…especially when he helps me test the light, or does whatever he’s doing on the right.
Sometimes crowd control is part of the job description.
I told Jay to get a serious groom portrait, but boys will be boys.
“Stars and Stripes Forever,” anyone?
Trying to convince one of our couples to bungee jump for a “wow” shot!
Explaining the relationship between the camera sensor’s crop factor and the focal length and field of vision, but here’s where I lose most couples as I’m just keeping them from their cocktail hour.
Some days we like to play crouching tiger, hidden photographer.
Trying my hardest to be a patient, supportive wife while Jay drones on and on and on… (iPhone Photo courtesy of our groom, Dan of Dan Schenker Photography)
But when we get gorgeous light, it’s game-time.
…until it’s time for Jay to practice his model face. GQ material he is not.
That time when a groom requested an “Asian bro sandwich” (two slices of yellow American?) with one of his guests. That’s not Jay’s brother. Really.
My model hates testing my light for me, but what else are husbands for?
We always love dinner time!! (Especially Jay, who often eats three meals.) Delicious food in the most unique settings!
Once it’s cake-time, Jay makes sure no one is looking before he sticks his finger in the cake for a taste.
If you’re lucky, you’ll get a free photography lesson during the reception.
And a free dance lesson, too!
Thank you to the talented Kim and Emtiaz for working so hard with us this year and being the most amazing team members out there! We are so thankful for these guys and we couldn’t have done it without them!
And there you have it! We hope you enjoyed this little behind-the-scenes, not so glamorous look at us! As the end of the year comes to a close, we feel so thankful for all of the amazing couples (and their wonderful families and friends) we’ve had the opportunity to work with this year!! Thank you for trusting us to capture your wedding day and thank you for allowing us to do what we love!!
