Spring is in the air! I loved getting to meet Julia and Nick for their spring Branch Brook Park engagement session. We met up at the height of cherry blossom season for these portraits, and truly had a great time together. Julia and Nick love spring and all things flowers. So, it was no surprise they wanted a springtime cherry blossom session. Being new to New Jersey meant they weren’t sure of the best spots – but luckily, I had them covered! (If you’re wondering about cherry blossoms in NJ, check out my guide here).
Julia and Nick met in college during the ballroom dance club, both beginners. They began to learn dances like waltz and swing… and before long, their love story was kicking off, too. 9 years later, they don’t dance as often, but it was fun to watch them break out some moves during our portraits!
Nick and Julia are still working on many of the plans for their wedding day and I loved their response when I asked about it all: “So far our wedding day vision is us marrying each other –that’s what matters and will be the case whatever we end up putting together for the big day. We still have a lot of planning to do (wedding planning is a lot of work!), but we know we’ll get there.”
Congratulations, Julia and Nick! I’m so excited for you both and I hope you enjoy scrolling back through your cherry blossom Branch Brook Park engagement session.
“We got a pot of Moroccan mint tea together at this cafe called Tea in Sahara and had a great time chatting. I remember almost getting lost walking over there –this was before smart phones with GPS.”
“Choosing to grow together and work together as a team and also simply being great best friends, it just becomes clearer and clearer day after day! Very thankful for our 9 and half years together so far!”
“Nick proposed on Christmas day. It was our first Christmas together with his family and we had all finished unwrapping presents by the tree and then he got up and said that there was actually one more gift left. As I started to open it and got to the box, he was down on one knee and opened it to propose. He even secretly got my parents on a video call just before it happened so they could be a part of it. He caught me completely by surprise! And we all know I said yes!”
“We love so much about each other, but to name one thing –we both love laughing together, making up our own punny jokes and being silly! It’s funny because I didn’t really have a sense of humor when we first met, but developed it over time since we’ve been together and I’m so glad that I have!”
