There is something truly romantic about a winter engagement session – especially when there is snow on the ground! Kristen and Mike flew in from their current hometown of Denver for their engagement session so we were incredibly happy that it had snowed just a couple of days before their session so that they felt a little bit more at home. This soon-to-be bride and groom embraced the winter day and we loved that! We started their session on the Main Street Bridge and took full advantage of the beautiful views of the Red Mill before heading into town. The quaint town of Clinton has so much charm that it’s the perfect place for an engagement session. We always love shooting in Clinton and are so excited to share these highlights from this winter engagement session. Kristen and Mike, congratulations on your engagement! We loved spending the morning with you and are SO excited for your Lambertville Inn Wedding in just a few short months!
How they met: Kristen and Mike met at work but were separated when their company was sold. Luckily, their paths crossed again in Denver a couple of years later and they continued to get to know each other. Sadly, however, Mike’s work took him away to Texas and they were separated once more. About seven years passed before Kristen and Mike met up again at the Jersey Shore on a rainy July day last summer. Kristen kept her promise to visit Mike in Dallas later that summer and the rest, as they say, is history!
The proposal: About 9 years ago, Kristen and Mike went kayaking in Lake Dillon, a beautiful reservoir in the mountains near Breckenridge, CO. On the trip Kristen snapped a picture of a sailboat and had an enlargement framed as a gift for Mike. He kept the picture (in his bathroom) for all of these years. On October 25, 2014, Mike told Kristen to get up early for a hike near Lake Dillon. Kristen should have been suspicious as Mike would NEVER ask her to get up early and hike. But excited to hike, she also dismissed that he was toting a cooler bag for a short hike. Kristen, Mike and Daphne the Husky hiked to the top of Tenderfoot Mountain and stopped at a bench to take in the view. Before they turned to leave, Mike popped the question on one knee and gave Kristen a whopper of a beautiful engagement ring. Eager to get that ring, Kristen said “Sure!” Ok, she cried a lot, too. Mike pulled out two little bottles of champagne from the cooler bag and they carved their initials into the bench. Onlooking hikers cheered and took their photo. Daphne was unimpressed.
