If you’ve followed my story for any amount of time, you know Italy has a very special place in my heart… so you can imagine how excited I was to hear that Maggie and Steve were engaged in Italy! It was so fun to exchange proposal stories with them but theirs is truly epic. You have to read about it below, as told by Maggie. It was a proposal for the books!
Maggie and Steve were actually engaged a little over a year ago, but they aren’t getting married until next year. Like many couples, they’ve had to deal with COVID-19 and have put their wedding plans on hold. Since these two plan to get married in Italy, they’ve decided to wait a little while before making any big decisions. They’re holding out hope to be married in Gaeta, Italy, and if their engagement session is any indication of what their wedding will be like, I know it will be beautiful.
For their engagement session, I met up with Maggie and Steve at Cross Estate Gardens. This place is so pretty, I always love shooting there. We pretty much had the place all to ourselves, too, so we couldn’t have picked a better day. These two warmed up to the camera right away and we created a perfect mix of timeless, romantic, and fun images. These two were up for anything! Take a peek at some of my favorite images below!
Cross Estate Gardens Engagement Session
How they met
“We initially met when we were in high school in our sophomore year Spanish class. My family moved from Colorado to New Jersey just before starting high school and fate brought me to the small town Steve grew up in. We started dating, but like most highschool couples we split before going away to college. We found our way back to each other in 2009 the summer after our freshman year of college and have been together ever since.”
When they knew they had found the one
“We are truly each other’s best friend and soulmate. Having known each other nearly half our lives, I can’t picture my life without Steve in it. We feel so lucky to have been able to experience life and many milestones together and support each other’s dreams along the way. Even when times got hard we always had a shared vision that we would end up married in the end.”
The proposal
“Steve proposed in the Amalfi Coast of Italy! He had planned a boat day to pick us up in Positano and sail around Capri, stopping to swim, get lunch and drink wine along the way. He really took me by surprise when he got down on one knee shortly after we boarded. We spent the day celebrating with lots of Prosecco and gorgeous views. It was super romantic and truly a dream proposal.”
All about the ring
“My ring is everything I always dreamed of! It’s a gorgeous two-tone rose gold radiant cut that was custom made by my favorite NYC jeweler. We went together to browse styles, but Steve created the final design and selected the stone all by himself.”
One thing they love about each other
“I love Steve’s compassion and kindness to everyone he meets. He has always made me feel extremely protected, spoiled, and loved.”
“I love Mags’ constant ability to make me laugh and her unwavering support. She is extremely passionate about all things that are important to her and she is always the most beautiful women in the room.”
