Rachel and Joe met after graduating college and after they had both moved to Hoboken in preparation for their new jobs. Rachel was a psychology major and never thought she’d end up in finance but kismet had it’s way and they ended up in the same starting class at a financial firm. They caught each other’s eye on day one and tied the knot last Saturday!
For their wedding day, Rachel and Joe wanted to have a wedding would inspire others to cherish their loved ones just like they cherish each other. These two are visibly madly in love with each other, they are each other’s best friend, shoulder to lead on, and inspiration for all of life’s journey. With that in mind, they designed the most magical ceremony. From the absolutely stunning florals by Beethoven’s Veranda to the romantic music of the string quartet, and the heartfelt vows that had everyone in tears, every detail was perfect. One of my favorite elements of the ceremony was the inclusion of two unique readings. They chose non-traditional messages to represent their love and communicate that story to family, friends, and loved ones. For one of the readings, they found a letter written during WWI by a French soldier to his wife. Despite so much hate and violence surrounding the husband and wife, the letter was filled with love, hope, and inspiration. It was a memorable moment for their guests and most importantly, for Rachel and Joe.
This wedding was a perfect blend of southern charm and New England prep. When searching for a venue, Rachel Joe also wanted their wedding to be fun for their guests and convenient for them, too, with everything at the same location. Their venue hunting covered several states – from PA to MA to CT to NJ, and as soon as they visited the Farmhouse at the Grand Colonial, they knew they had found the place. These two love history and were impressed by the fact that the main building dates from 1680! Not to mention it had beautiful grounds, a gorgeous ceremony space, and an elegant ballroom. With the help of the talented EVJ Wedding Co., Rachel and Joe created a beautiful wedding day from start to finish. It even included music by Rachel’s uncle, an award-winning jazz guitarist, who joined the jazz duet during cocktail hour while guests enjoyed drink and appetizers in the patio. It was such a relaxed start to the evening, perfect for the party that followed.
Rachel and Joe, what a beautiful wedding you had!! Congratulations and best wishes for a life full of joy and love. Enjoy your time relaxing in Antigua. We are so jealous of that private villa on the water!!
