Ally and Dan met over five years ago and were engaged last July out in California. They found me on Pinterest and I’m so glad they did because they are the sweetest couple and I’m already looking forward to their wedding day.
For their engagement session, I met them in Hoboken on a bright sunny morning. We had Pier A Park all to ourselves and it was so nice to hear all about Ally and Dan’s upcoming wedding at the Molly Pitcher Inn. Ally and Dan are planning a June wedding for next year and are looking forward to a relaxed day with all their wedding events on site so that their wedding day is reflective of their own low key personalities. I’m so excited to see their day come together!
Check out Ally and Dan’s Hoboken engagement session below and enjoy reading my sweet couple’s love story sprinkled between my images.
Hoboken Engagement Session
How they met
“It all started with two right swipes. Dan had a cute dog. Ally had a bright smile. We had 20+ mutual friends, grew up in neighboring towns and had taken the same train for 8 months commuting into the city. We had even been at the same parties before without meeting. We like to tell all the Tinder couples out there – there’s hope!”
Their first date
“The waitress had to kick us out of out of our table because we were there so long just talking after we were done eating.”
When they knew they had found the one
“When I had surgery (won’t get into the details) Dan was by my side everyday and even replaced my bandages. He didn’t even ask if I needed help, he just helped.” – Ally
“I can’t say there was any one particular moment. Each day together just felt more and more right with her by my side.” – Dan
The proposal
“Dan planned a romantic vacation in California for the two of us, visiting Monterrey, Big Sur, and Napa Valley. Eager to relieve the stress of the having the ring in his possession, Dan decided he was going to ask the big question the second day of the trip as they planned to drive along the coast down Highway 1. After a full day of driving, stopping and hiking, Dan pulled off the road to an empty lookout spot. After I (Ally) made him model for a few pictures, he got down on one knee, apologized for it being an odd-numbered day and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I obviously said yes.”
All about the ring
“It’s perfect! It may have helped that I showed him a picture of what I was looking for – but he did all the hard work himself!”
One thing they love about each other
“He makes me laugh everyday, even when I’m in the worst of moods or hangry.” – Ally
“No matter where we’re going, she can make an adventure out of anything.” – Dan
