The Couple
Jamie and Alex met just like Jay and I did – through a mutual friend. Although they were fortunate to hit it off immediately, while Jay and I actually forgot we had already met (more than once, too!)! But Jamie and Alex recognized right away that there was something special between them and their relationship evolved naturally. Alex proposed on a beautiful sunny day at Madison Square Park, where they returned for their engagement photos last year, and began to plan their spring wedding after she said yes! During the planning, they originally didn’t think they’d want an outdoor venue but they fell in love with Windows on the Water as soon as they arrived on the grounds. It doesn’t surprise me because it’s such a photogenic place! (Wait until you see all the beautiful Weeping Willows!)
The Wedding Day
Jamie and Alex incorporated a beautiful color palette of soft pink, creams and grey/blue thanks to the succulents in the bouquets. Paired with the groom and groomsmen’s classic black tuxedos and bowties, their wedding day was wonderfully elegant and perfectly executed. Timeless weddings like Jamie and Alex’s make our hearts happy – we just love capturing weddings like these! But my favorite moment of the day was when Jamie and Alex exchanged vows. They each wrote their own vows and they were some of the most heartfelt, tear-jerking vows I’ve ever witnessed! Not only were their guests in tears but so were they, as they paused several times to get their words out despite their emotions. It was truly a special moment that I know everyone in attendance was honored to witness.
The Reception
Once it was time for their reception, Jamie and Alex had each table correspond to a love song as a nod to their love of music. They even added each song to a Spotify playlist that guests can download and listen to. This was such a neat idea that we had never seen before! Guests also received a pack of Reese’s peanut butter cups in honor of Alex’s proposal (read the proposal story here) and were also treated to Yocco’s hot dogs and pierogies at the after-party. Alex’s family owns a local food chain known for their hot dogs in Allentown, PA, so it was perfectly fitting and well appreciated by their guests, especially after all the dancing they did during the reception. This was actually one of the liveliest receptions to date! Jamie and Alex wanted to make sure everyone had a good time and truly minimized interruptions in dancing. When it came time to cut the cake, they had everyone stay on the dance floor so that they could get back to dancing as soon as the newlyweds fed each other a few bites.
For their honeymoon, Jamie and Alex will be going to South Africa!! (Jay and I are sooo jealous!!) In the fall, they’ll be visiting Cape Town, going on a safari in Kruger National Park and visiting Mauritius, too! In the meantime, they are enjoying a mini-moon this week in Cape may to relax and be happy newlyweds! Jamie and Alex, we hope you had a wonderful few days and are ready to re-live your wedding day through this preview! Congratulations and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day =)
