We don’t get to Lambertville as often as we’d like, but when we do, we love it. This quaint little town sits right next to the scenic Delaware River and has so much character. It made the perfect backdrop for Lela and Carson’s wedding last Saturday, and it also meant a lot to Carson’s family to get married in Lambertville since it’s the town where his father was born and raised.
The Couple
Even though they met at Lafayette College in PA, Lela and Carson both grew up in central NJ and knew they wanted to have a local wedding. While Lela really wanted to get married at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, the church she grew up in that was instrumental in her faith, Carson really wanted to have Reverend Chuck Coblentz, the reverend at his high school who was also his football coach, officiate their wedding because he was instrumental in his faith. So you can imagine how these two compromised: they joined the two wishes by getting married at Hopewell Presbyterian Church by Reverend Chuck Coblentz. When it came time to pick a venue, Lela and Carson wanted a venue that would complement their traditional and elegant fall wedding and they found it at the Lambertville Station Inn.
The Wedding Day
On their wedding day, Lela wore the prettiest ivory lace Maggie Sottero dress with a lace off-the-shoulder cover-up that really pulled the whole look together. I absolutely loved this style dress for a fall wedding and Lela looked stunning in it! Its romantic and timeless style complemented Lela’s engagement ring perfectly. Side note about her ring (because I just love the little stories we get to discover about our couples!), her ring includes the diamond from her grandmother’s engagement ring and is set in a halo setting that is just stunning. I love that Lela’s ring will always remind her not only of her husband but also of the loving marriage her grandparents shared for 60 years. When it came time for Carson to see his lovely bride, I think she got the exact reaction she was hoping for, because he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. They shared the sweetest first look that reminded me exactly why we absolutely love when our couples do a first look. He admired her, checked out every detail, and just made her feel like the beautiful bride that she was! Logistically, first looks don’t always make sense, especially when our couples plan to get married in a church, but I’m so glad that Lela and Carson prioritized it! We had lots of time to capture portraits of our sweet couple, their bridal party and their families before heading over to their church ceremony and it was one of the best paced days of the year. With a first look scheduled for 1:45pm, these two had plenty of time to enjoy each other’s company and spend so much of the day together! We loved that they didn’t have to wait until the late afternoon or evening in order to see each other and do their portrait session, especially since it gets dark so early now. I could go on and on about this gorgeous fall wedding but I think the images below will tell the story much better than I could!
Lela and Carson, we hope these images remind you of just how PERFECT your wedding day was! All the planning paid off! Enjoy this preview of your day and keep posting photos from your honeymoon! We loved getting a peek at Chamonix-Mont Blanc and are already looking forward to Interlaken and Santorini! May your honeymoon be filled with plenty of adventure, good food, and scenic backdrops for your selfies =) Congratulations!
