This summer I had the pleasure of meeting Meryem and Matt, one of my 2021 couples, at the NJ Botanical Gardens at Skylands Manor. If you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time, you probably already know this is one of my very favorite places to shoot… and you’ll see why in this Skylands Manor Engagement Session post!
When Meryem and Matt told me what they did for a living, I wasn’t surprised they connected shortly after meeting online. Matt is a teacher and Meryem is a nurse, so two very caring and compassionate people. They make such a sweet couple! Originally, I was supposed to meet up with them for the first time this spring, but the pandemic changed our plans so, instead, we met up in August, shortly after these two celebrated one year of being engaged. We ended up having a beautiful day for their session and it worked out perfectly in the end.
Meryem and Matt will be tying the knot at The Manor next year so they’re having a long engagement, much like my husband and I did. They’ll have plenty of time to plan for their romantic wedding at their gorgeous venue. Enjoy getting to know my sweet couple in the images and story below!
Skylands Manor Engagement Session
Their first date
“We got dinner at a restaurant in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and went for a walk along the water. It then started raining while we were walking, so we got ice cream instead.”
The proposal
“Matt had originally planned the proposal at a lantern festival but the plans got cancelled. So instead, he took us to the restaurant where we had our first date and for a walk on The Promenade in downtown Brooklyn, where he popped the question.”
“I love that Matt is patient and easygoing, and has a great sense of humor. Matt says he loves my kindness and that we can be silly together.”
Their wedding style and vision
“We are getting married at the church that Matt has been attending since he was little. We picked The Manor as our venue because it fits the rustic/classic style that we envision for our wedding.”
All about the ring
“Matt picked this ring out as I mentioned I like simple and classic styles.”
