Ashley and Thomas are married! They had a gorgeous wedding day in Newark, NJ at two landmarks: Nanina’s in the Park and The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Ashley actually found me through a blog post that I wrote about churches in the NJ and NY area. She told me: “I stumbled upon this article on culture trip The 10 Most Beautiful Cathedrals and Churches in Northern New Jersey. The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart was the first to show up. I was absolutely intrigued. I then googled ‘Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart Wedding’ and clicked on Alex’s post. From there – I clicked on the link where Alex did a wedding at Newark Basilica and Nanina’s…. Just from that one post – we decided the Cathedral would be our ceremony, Nanina’s would be our reception, and would need to have Alex as our wedding photographer!” How fun is that?!
The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart
From the beginning, Ashley and Thomas knew that they wanted their day to have a minimal modern feel. With a color palette of black, white, and champagne and lots of orchids, they brought that vibe to life! Ashley and Thomas prepared for their wedding day before meeting at The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart for their ceremony. They opted for no first look and kept things traditional, which I think worked beautifully in a church like this! While Ashley and Thomas fell in love with the church, the whole search began because both of their mothers wanted them to be married in a church. I think they chose one of the most gorgeous locations in New Jersey!
Nanina’s in the Park Wedding
After their church ceremony, we headed back to Nanina’s in the Park for portraits and their reception. Nanina’s in the Park has beautiful grounds that we were able to explore, finding the perfect spot for portraits of the newlyweds and their wedding party. I loved the champagne gowns for Ashley’s bridesmaids, especially against the pink blossoms around Newark. We also made sure to capture more portraits inside Nanina’s in the Park – including the beautiful staircase near the ballroom. Their reception was absolutely gorgeous. The black and white details looked amazing in the ballroom, which already has lots of bright whites. Ashley and Thomas surprised their guests with a dreamy fog for their first dance and had a blast dancing the night away with their loved ones!
Congratulations again, Ashley and Thomas! I loved capturing your first day as husband and wife, I’m so happy for you both!
