The Couple
I heard of Rosy long before I actually got to meet her in person. She’s actually one of Jay’s former college students! She was president of a club that Jay was the faculty advisor to so he saw her grow from a shy freshman into a confident leader. Needless to say, we’ve really enjoyed capturing this amazing time in her life as she prepares to marry Andrew next year!
Rosy and Andrew are from the Atlantic City area but they thought it would be fun to do their engagement session in NYC, and I’m so glad they did, because we ended up getting the perfect mix of classic photos in Central Park and fun photos in Times Square. I was so happy when these two warmed up to the camera right away. I loved how easily they make each other laugh and how happy they are together. They are so easy-going, relaxed, and just genuinely happy together.
On the day of their engagement session, we started out at Central Park and hit some of the most iconic spots in the park, including Bethesda Fountain and one of my very favorite tree canopies. It was a pretty crowded day in the park, but we managed to work around the crowds and even found some spots that made it seem like they were the only ones around. After spending some time in the park, we headed over to Times Square and ended up at one of our couple’s favorite stores, LINE FRIENDS. We love how their personalities shine through these images and can’t wait to capture them again on their wedding day!
Rosy and Andrew, congratulations on your engagement – enjoy this season in your lives as you prepare to become husband and wife!

How they met
We met at the end of our senior year of high school and didn’t really know each other at all beforehand. Andrew thought I was a fob and I thought he was a weird guy. One of our friends got us to talk to each other and I started thinking he wasn’t so bad after all. Senior week came up in school and we started talking more and Andrew asked me for my phone number but I really didn’t have one. I think he thought I was lying and eventually asked me to be his girlfriend online after much prodding about not having a phone number.
Their first date
Our first date wasn’t really our first date because at the time my parents were pretty strict with dating and it was kept a secret from them for a while. We ended up going on a group date with our other friends and went to watch Transformers 2 and had 5 Guys. Not at all romantic but I will never forget that day! Andrew also tried to surprise me with our first Build-a-Bear baby, a sheep plush, but his friend who is now a groomsman spoiled the surprise by telling me the real reason Andrew was late that day.
When they knew they had found the one
ROSY: I knew he was the one when it was one of our friend’s birthday and he came down from Rutgers just to see me. We were on the boardwalk and he just hugged me and held me there for a while. Even though he is a skinny guy, I felt extremely safe in his arms. I think it’s knowing that he’ll always be there for me that gives me such comfort. ANDREW: One of our friends held a birthday party at her house and invited a bunch of people, myself and Rosy included. I didn’t know Rosy too well before this point, but throughout the course of the party, I started noticing how easy it was for me to hold a conversation with her. We were both kind of goofy, shy, and just matched on some level. At some point, she caked me when I wasn’t paying attention, and I thought to myself… “what the heck? I barely know this girl and she’s caking me!?”. From that moment, I knew she was the one from her innocent, carefree, happy-go-lucky personality.
The proposal: March 19, 2017
Definitely not the most romantic story, but in Andrew’s mind, he thought about how to surprise me and it was to do it on the most random day doing the most random thing. We were getting ready to go to a friend’s house for board games and Andrew went upstairs to do something to his computer. I grabbed a snack from his pantry and was eating when he went downstairs to put on his shoes. At the moment I was turned away and he called me and said he was ready to go. I turned around and there he was on his one knee asking me to marry him. I literally had food in my mouth and was like are you serious right now?!
One thing they love about each other
ROSY: I love how kind and goofy Andrew is. He always tries to make me happy no matter what the situation is, even though sometimes his actions or what he does isn’t exactly what I want. I think what I love the most is that he tries his best. He also tries to be goofy when an argument dies down and tries to make me laugh or smile and we just sort of both forget why we were arguing in the first place. ANDREW: I love how I can always make her laugh. She just laughs whether she thinks what I’m doing is legitimately funny, or just laughs at my feeble attempt at making her laugh. Either way, the reaction is had, and I’ve added another tally to my everlasting endeavor.
All about the ring
I love how simple yet elegant it looks. We had browsed through a giant catalog of rings before and I chose maybe 10 that I liked from the bunch, but we never narrowed it down. He just picked something from the catalog of rings and it just happened to be the one I liked the most!
Besides getting married, what they’re looking forward to the most on their wedding day
ROSY: I’m looking forward to the reception where we could dance and sort of melt into the night. Have a couple drinks and just simply enjoy the night with everyone.
ANDREW: I’m looking forward to sleeping. I’m pretty sure by the end of the day, I’ll be exhausted and will want nothing more than to melt into the night on a nice comfortable bed.
