Amanda and Tom met at Ramapo College at a party! Tom was visiting from another school and Amanda asked to be introduced to the cute guy she hadn’t seen before. Before they knew it, they were on their first date at the Grand Luxe Cafe at the Garden State Plaza and now they are engaged to be married! These two got engaged last year in October. But, they aren’t getting married until next June so they’re enjoying a long engagement, much like my husband and I did. There’s something about long engagements that I find so peaceful! There’s time to enjoy this amazing time in your lives that, when you look back at it, seems to go by in a flash. Hopefully Amanda and Tom will find ways to slow time down over the next few months to continue to enjoy their engagement!
Fall Engagement Session
One thing couples can do to savor this time is to have engagement photos done. And last month I got to meet up with Amanda and Tom for their own engagement photos at Ramapo Reservation. Since Amanda and Tom are having a summer wedding, they really wanted to capture some beautiful photos in the fall. So they reserved a spot in my calendar back in the winter!!
I love when couples schedule their engagement session so far in advance because not only does it give them something to look forward to, but it also ensures perfect timing with seasons. When it came time to choose a location, these two actually chose this spot as a compromise. Their favorite place in the world is Tom’s family tree farm property in the middle of nowhere in PA so their compromise was Ramapo Reservation, since it’s right by where they first met. We met up there in mid-October and I have to say that it was the most perfect fall day. Not only was the temperature ideal, but the foliage was on point! Beautiful color in the trees, gorgeous light filtering in between the trees, and the most perfect amount of leaves on the ground.
New Jersey Wedding Planning
For their wedding, Amanda and Tom are planning a romantic, classic, and simple day at Stone House at Stirling Ridge. This is actually where both Amanda’s parents and her older sister got married so choosing this location was a no-brainer. They’re planning their wedding from a distance. So, it makes it a lot easier already being familiar with such an integral part of their vendor team. I’m so excited to be a part of this wedding and can’t wait to see these two again as bride and groom! And watching them celebrate on the dance floor will be so special. They are having a live band! And, after all the limitations from COVID are finally a thing of the past, I have a feeling that dance floor will be one of the liveliest of the year.
In the meantime, I love how their NJ Fall engagement session turned out so get a peek at some of my favorite images below!

NJ Fall Engagement Session
When they knew they had found the one
“When we moved in together, I knew 1000%, everything felt perfect like our lives fell into place.”
The proposal
“After a 6 hour drive from Pittsburgh to New Jersey, Tom got down on one knee in my parents driveway as I tried to get our stuff from the trunk. Both our parents and my family and maid of honor were there waiting inside to celebrate! I was totally surprised!”
One thing they love about each other
“Our silly sense of humor together”
All about the ring
“Tom went and got it while I was away one weekend in the summer and told no one. I love how simple and classic my ring is ( I sent tom many photos of inspiration in January earlier that year), solitaire round diamond with diamonds on the band.”
