We met Lisa and Mike thanks to one of our former brides and grooms (so thankful for that!) and last month we met up with them for their engagement session. It was the most perfect day! The leaves had started to turn and there was a crisp autumn chill in the air that was perfect for cuddling up! We loved spending the afternoon with these two – they were such naturals in front of the camera and we got to hear all about Lisa and Mike’s upcoming spring wedding. It’s going to be beautiful and we can’t wait! Lisa and Mike, congratulations on your engagement! We’re so happy for you both and are excited to share these highlights from your session on the blog today. Enjoy!
How they met:
Mike & I actually met years before we started dating since he was friends with my sister through college but we reconnected later on through mutual friends. We were all out for drinks when his familiar (and of course handsome) face and amazing dance moves captured my attention J
What they remember about their first date:
Mike: I took Lisa on a date to That’s Amore. We instantly connected.. over a bottle of red wine. Lisa was bubbly and adorable.
Lisa: It was the perfect first date.. Mike picked me up, treated me to dinner, and we chatted so effortlessly. I remember kissing Mike goodbye when he took me home and I knew I wanted to go out with him again.
When they knew they had found the One:
Mike: When Lisa brought me over a box of Cinnabons for my birthday I knew she was the one.
Lisa: Unlike Mike, I can’t think of one exact thing! It’s all those little things that make up how perfect he is for me. Our relationship was always easy though. We quickly knew we wanted to move in together and never hesitated when discussing our future.
The proposal:
Mike: I hid Lisa’s engagement ring in our attic with plans to propose weeks after buying it but was so eager, I asked Lisa three days later. I completely choked up when asking.. I almost forgot to get down on one knee.
Lisa: Mike proposed Labor Day Weekend of 2014 in front of the sunflowers at Rutgers Gardens. I was completely shocked when Mike got down on one knee and opened the ring box. We always talked about marriage and the wedding we would one day plan but I had no idea it was coming. I wish I could relive that moment hugging him so tight and putting my ring on while my hands were shaking. I felt incredibly special and excited.
One thing they love about each other:
Mike: I love her baby blues but most importantly she is so caring always putting others first.
Lisa: Mike is everything I want in my husband. He is so thoughtful, patient and supportive. I can always count on him to make my day better with his silly sense of humor.
Besides getting married, the one thing they are looking forward to on their wedding day:
Dancing the night away with each other and having the most important people in our lives all in one room celebrating!
