Sara and Landon actually went to the same high school but didn’t know each other at all. They were even in the same prom photos one year, but with different dates! They had some mutual friends, though, and ended up at a Memorial Day BBQ together one summer when they were home from college. They started dating not long after that, were engaged last May, and now they’re counting down the days until their Pleasantdale Chateau wedding exactly one month from today!
I’d been looking forward to Sara and Landon’s engagement session since the winter. I knew it had to be one of the first ones I shot this spring due to their upcoming June wedding, but spring in NJ hasn’t been very cooperative so we had to reschedule their session. Luckily, we ended up having the best day on the new date and both Princeton and our couple looked fabulous. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. It was so great walking around Princeton while getting to know Sara and Landon and today I’m excited to share a peek at their engagement session along with their love story, too! Enjoy getting to know our sweet couple and get excited for their wedding next month!
Princeton Engagement Session
Their first date
“After meeting at a Memorial Day BBQ, Landon and I spent most of the summer together… One of our first dates was at our absolute favorite restaurant- Tortuga’s Mexican Village in Princeton. We’ve been back countless times since, and it’s still one of our favorite places to go for a casual Friday night dinner or to celebrate a special occasion… Landon even planned a surprise dinner there to celebrate our engagement with our closest family and friends!”
The proposal
“Landon completely surprised me with the engagement- But it was about time, considering we’d been dating for almost 9 years at that point! He told me that we were going out to dinner with friends in Princeton- and walked me through Palmer Square where he got down on one knee and proposed! Little did I know, there was a photographer around the corner to catch the special moment and then our closest family and friends were waiting to celebrate with us at our favorite restaurant. ”
All about the ring
“Landon worked with a custom jeweler to completely design the ring. I hinted plenty of times over the recent years that I wanted a simple, delicate band with yellow gold and also loved a cushion cut diamond… and Landon nailed it with my ring. I’m certainly in love with it!”
Their wedding vision
“One of Landon’s few wedding requests was for the wedding to be more formal than not, which led to our black tie optional dress code and our choice of the gorgeous Pleasantdale Chateau for our venue! The estate has such a traditional, elegant feel- but we also loved how the historic property has been completely restored/upheld to it’s original natural beauty. For our wedding day though, we are most excited about celebrating and spending special moments with our family and friends!”
