I don’t know about you, but August just FLEW by for me and I can hardly believe it’s the last day of the month today! After a quiet spring, things really picked up this summer with lots of engagement sessions and micro weddings and I couldn’t be happier to be shooting regularly again and meeting so many new couples! Fiza and Tom are one of the couples I had the pleasure of meeting this summer. These two were were engaged last December during the holiday season (more details on their sweet proposal below!) and they are currently planning a fall wedding! For their engagement session, they knew the type of setting they wanted and settled on the Princeton University campus. They fell in love with the history and culture of the grounds and decided it was the perfect spot for their engagement photos. Of course, it’s one of my very favorite spots to shoot at and I hadn’t been there all year so I was more than happy to meet them there!
From the second I met Fiza and Tom, I knew their session was going to be a fun one. They warmed up to the camera right away and they are so comfortable and joyful around each other that they made my job easy, plus they make such a gorgeous couple! We started the session out in front of Clio and Whig Halls, my favorites on campus, and continued with a little walking tour of campus, hitting all my favorite spots. Since there weren’t any students on campus, it felt like we had the place all to ourselves. Check out some of my very favorite images from the session in the recap below and enjoy reading their love story, too!
Princeton University Engagement Session
How they met
“We worked together – The first day Tom saw me on the job he assumed I was someone else from a distance and said the wrong thing. I rolled my eyes and walked right by him thinking who is this guy and do I really need or better yet want to introduce myself to him? Haha!”
Their first date
“It was so natural and fulfilling! We talked for hours and did the least bit of eating but it was just the most pleasant of times!”
When they knew they had found the one
“I knew Tom was the one when I introduced him to my family. My goodness, the charisma and charm on this man is lethal!”
“I knew Fiza was the one when I worked with her one on one for the first time. Not only did I find her incredibly beautiful but she had this way of carrying herself so effortlessly that I texted a buddy of mine that night and said she’s the one man, I’m marrying her!”
The Proposal
“We went to a Christmas village, annual tradition, as this is our favorite holiday and as we did the usual, walk up to the big tree and take a picture, Tom went down on one knee and popped the question. It was just the sweetest moment! I was completely caught off guard and to make everything even more perfect, my entire family was there to catch the most perfect surprise on camera! Truly a blessed time and a great memory!”
One thing they love about each other
“I admire Tom’s view and take on life – He’s just so lively and vibrant! There’s never a dull moment when he’s around!”
“I love making Fiza laugh. She has this contagious smile that just lights up the room.”
Their wedding vision
“Everything change due to the pandemic, but one thing remained set in stone and that is that we are so excited to be bonded in marriage! Our vision and style for the big day is a small, intimate gathering in a church during the season that we first met, Fall. The season of Fall is a style in itself and we couldn’t think of a better date and time than late October.”
All about the ring
“Tom completely blew me away with his choice! He had a general idea of what I would like or prefer based on the way I dressed or chose to wear certain pieces all the time and was he right! I love the detailing around the actual band of the ring! So simple yet specific – Love it!”
