I have another beautiful engagement session to share today! Kerry and Mike both love the outdoors, so much that they moved out to Utah last year. They came out to New Jersey for a wedding so we decided to do their engagement session that same weekend while they were in town. I kept my fingers crossed for good weather and was so relieved when the forecast showed nothing but sun. I met up with Kerry and Mike at Ramapo Reservation in the morning and the light was absolutely gorgeous. I wish I got to shoot in the mornings more often but early birds are rare, my friends. I’m happy to say we were rewarded with the prettiest light in the most perfect vast, open field with tall grasses. I probably kept them there a little longer than I should have but it’s hard to walk away from good light! Enjoy a few of my favorites from our time together and get excited for their Westmount Country Club wedding next summer!
How they met: “Mike and I met as freshmen at the University of Maryland. We had the same major so were in a lot of classes together. For the first three years of college, we were just friends/classmates. We worked on a lot of group projects together and saw each other on campus all the time. It wasn’t until the summer before our senior year we became more than friends.”
Their first date: “On what we now consider our first date, Mike and I went hiking at a park in Maryland. We went out for Mexican food afterwards and split the bill. Mike paid for the guacamole like a gentleman. At the time, I was in denial that he liked me and still considered us just friends, even though we were hanging out and eating out together frequently. Soon the secret was out and we quickly became more than friends.”
“Mike and I dated after college and through PT school (we both went to Drexel in Philadelphia, PA). We lived in Philly for a year after grad school before deciding to make the big decision to move cross country. (This was mainly influenced by Mike). In August of 2015, we were preparing for our move to Salt Lake City, UT. My parents hosted a pizza party to have some local family over before we left. Mike showed up early to the party with red roses, calling them an “early birthday gift.” He brought me out into my parent’s backyard, got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. Our going away party turned into an engagement party!”
One thing they love about each other:
