We are so excited to finally share our Red Mill Museum Village Styled Shoot! It was just published on Rustic Wedding Chic so I figured it was a good day to share it! I loved working with so many talented people in the wedding industry and seeing us come together to create this shoot. Here’s more from our Rustic NJ Wedding Styled Shoot, and click here for the feature.
Susan Beaudoin wrote up a description of our shoot that I think is just perfect so I thought I’d share it with you all to read as you view our shoot. She has such a beautiful way with words!
Take a step back into the past with this new styled shoot, when the pace of time moved just a little slower and moments were more readily savored—exactly the way a wedding day should be. The core of inspiration for this photo series is the rural beauty of the Red Mill Museum Village located in historic Clinton, a landmark of Hunterdon County in western New Jersey. While the Main Street Bridge spanning the tranquil riverbank in front of the iconic Red Mill provides a scenic backdrop for a signature newlywed photograph, the property features a verdant landscape punctuated with the rustic charm of buildings echoing the ambiance of another century. Add a measure of talented design and graceful floral looks by NVS Events, and settle down to study a vision of lovely.
A distressed wood and chalkboard sign points the way past the mill to the festivities where the color palette takes its cues from the surrounding, natural milieu.
Earth tones accented by recurring hues of crimson and cream are reflected throughout by the custom invitations, seating cards, menu, and stationary created by NVS Events.
Opposing textures add visual interest, as seen in the manner that this extraordinary lace dress provided by Casablanca from The Barefoot Bride exhibited on a special hanger from Handmade Affair contrasts with the elements of the log cabin and decidedly cute red corn crib.
The softness of the bride’s look, hair by Elaina Manfre and make-up by Amanda Rae, is accentuated by a simple tulle veil also by Casablanca and a bouquet composed of delicate white hydrangeas and baby’s breath wrapped with lace and twine which balances the groom’s beige glen plaid suit from Jos. A. Bank, brown leather shoes, and russet-colored tie.
Approaching the quarry office, distressed chairs of sky blue and sea green are lined up in rows dressed with freshly cut blooms and double infusion jugs of mottled glass offer welcome access to refreshing lemon water in Mason jars.
The bordering rock hewn wall and antique wood furniture, available from Trunk Vintage Rental, offers practical space with an unforgettable look which is highlighted with carefully chosen décor.
Frayed burlap and lace tablecloths temper the natural surfaces, and scattered collections of white and yellow baby’s breath nosegays in assorted vases, white tea light candles, and locally salvaged glass bottles add a dose of all-around prettiness.
Mechanical elements such as vintage film and photograph cameras and a handsome Remington typewriter combine with stacks of careworn books to effectively construct an atmosphere of early Americana.
Behind the tenant house, an expansive green lawn provides space for the reception.
Seating cards fixed with miniature clothespins on lengths of brown twine in wooden frames invite guests to find their place at the country-style dining table, accompanied by more distressed, mismatched chairs in tastefully contrasting colors.
A burlap runner is decorated by a framed table number in coordinating print, as well as a pleasing collection of unique containers such as antique goods boxes and an heirloom sewing machine drawer which serve as vessels to showcase the main floral choices of pristine white hydrangea centerpieces surrounded by burgundy flowers nestled in beds of Spanish moss.
The place settings feature embossed bronze plates with simple filigreed silverware and striped cloth napkins tied up with more twine. Sprigs of young twigs and red-tipped berries tucked inside complement the modern dinner menu in matching garnet font.
More salvaged bottles of still water and Mason jar glasses complete the look.
Finally, attention must be given to the adorable confections bar from WinnDee Sweet Events set atop a repurposed wooden ice-chest adorned with an enchanting garland stitched with the proclamation “Love is Sweet.” Varied textures of wood, porcelain, metal, and glass are at play again as delightfully distinct containers display a tempting assortment of treats from freshly powdered doughnuts to red licorice strips to white-chocolate-dipped petite pretzels.
The counterpart to this sweet array is the stunning wedding cake designed by Sara Malbari of Sweets by Sara. Integrating the thematic textures and colors, this three-tiered beauty is reminiscent of a trio of vintage hat boxes embellished with bright scarlet roses.
As the night winds down, guests follow the flicker of lanterns to a table of favors wrapped up in hand-stamped brown paper bags and lace ribbon, the close of a wonderful celebration of “happily ever after” at the Red Mill.
