October was quite a beautiful month for engagement sessions and I’m so glad I still have so many of them to share before the off-season officially arrives next month! We had so many days that were unseasonably warm and one week in particular, I was especially thankful for the nice weather because I had six portrait sessions that week! I’m not going to lie – it was kind of a crazy week driving all over NJ and NY in just a few days!! But I loved meeting so many of our newest couples before their weddings next year. One of these couples was Grace and Denis. These two found me thanks to a former student of mine from when I used to teach high school. I later found out that Denis is actually the older brother of another former student of mine so now I have yet another reason to look forward to Grace and Denis’s wedding day! For their engagement session, our lovely couple chose Skylands Manor. This place is quite a hike from where we live but it’s one of my very favorite places to shoot. The grounds at the botanical gardens are absolutely beautiful and paired with the elegance of the castle, it makes for the most beautiful setting for any portrait session.
I really enjoyed getting to know Grace and Denis on the day of their session. I especially loved hearing Denis’s proposal story first hand. He proposed at the Old Westbury Gardens in Long Island, which is just as gorgeous as Skylands Manor. He has a knack for picking beautiful places! Denis actually had a photographer friend capture the moment when he went down on one knee and asked Grace to be his wife. He planned a perfect proposal! Our couple will be tying the knot at Crystal Springs Resort. We haven’t been up there since last year so we’re excited to go back! Here is a peek into my time with Grace and Denis – enjoy these images while we await their April wedding!
