A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of going up to Skytop Lodge in Pennsylvania for Kaitlyn and Adam’s engagement session. Their first mini vacation was a long weekend to Skytop Lodge in the Poconos back in fall 2017. When discussing a location for their engagement photos, they knew they wanted to go somewhere that had meaning to them. Skytop seemed like the perfect choice for them, as they both love it and knew the grounds would be beautiful in pictures.
They were 100% right because the lodge had so much to offer – from gorgeous architecture to stunning views across the golf course and beautiful grounds, it had plenty of variety for their photos. I had never been to this location and I always love shooting at new-to-me spots so this was definitely a fun one for me! I loved meeting Kaitlyn and Adam for the first time, getting to know them and their love story a bit, and seeing them interact with each other. They make the cutest couple! They’re so joyful and up for anything! I love that they dressed up for the first half of the session and then went more casual for the second half. This allowed us to get such a great mix of images, including lots of fun lifts and even a piggy back ride. I’m all about piggy back rides to get some fun candids and love when my couples are, too! Kaitlyn and Adam will be tying the knot at The Refinery at Perona Farms in April and I can’t wait for their big day! Check out some of my favorites from their Skytop Lodge engagement photos and their love story below!

How they met
“We met on the dating app Ok-Cupid. We both had friends who had success in the online dating world, so both gave it a try!”
Something they remember about their first date
K- “I had worked the previous Friday night shift and had my cousin’s bridal shower Saturday morning. Honestly, I almost cancelled our first date because I was so exhausted from lack of sleep. Luckily I didn’t! I remember sneaking a text to my best friend saying how well it was going.”
A- “I got to the Egan & Sons early and waited outside to meet Kaitlyn for the first time. I ordered a beer and she ordered a white sangria. We had great conversation the whole night.”
The Proposal
“Adam and I planned to celebrate our 4 year anniversary at Egan & Sons in Montclair, where we had our first date. Little did I know, Adam had already made a reservation to eat at the exact table we had our first date. After dinner, Adam asked to take a selfie (I think to take our masks off) and proposed in the exact spot we first met. Our families were hiding and watching , along with a professional photographer capturing the whole thing. He then made a second reservation at the restaurant for all of us to celebrate after the proposal. He put so much thought into planning the perfect proposal.”
All about the ring
A – “I asked Kaitlyn’s sister to come ring shopping with me at a family friends jewelry store. We both agreed on the perfect ring for Kaitlyn, and completely guessed her ring size, which ended up fitting her perfectly.”
One thing they love about each other
A-“I love Kaitlyn’s kind heart”
K- “Adam is an extremely hard worker, but always finds time to make me feel special everyday”
