Out of all the “How they met” stories I have heard, this one is a first! Julie and Sean met in 2007 on Xbox where they would play Halo 2 together!! They were 1,000 miles apart; Julie was in New Jersey and Sean was in St. Louis, Missouri where he was born and raised. After about a year of playing on Halo 2 together and talking, they finally met in person at a MLG convention (Major League Gaming) at the Meadowlands in NJ. They were long distance for about 6 years before Sean moved to New Jersey about 7 years ago!
For their engagement session, they chose Spring Lake, one of my favorite shore towns! Julie and Sean said they love being outside in nature so the mix of the greenery from the trees at Divine Park and Spring Lake Beach were a perfect fit. I loved getting to know these two and seeing how relaxed they were with each other, and how excited they are to be married next summer!
Julie and Sean are planning a simple, neutral color wedding that feels romantic, intimate and fun. I can’t wait to see it all come together for these two. Here is a peek at their engagement photos and more of their love story sprinkled throughout this post!

Their first date
“We were so young, I’m not sure what would’ve qualified as our first date! If we go way back in our memory, it would probably be the weekend we met in person. There was a fair in town where I live that Sean came down to from the MLG convention. I would say that would count as the first date!”
When they knew they had found the one
“I feel like I’ve known Sean my whole life, he’s just always been a part of me. Ever since we met we just connected and we were so comfortable with each other. Life knew we needed each other and brought us together!”
“We have been dating and living with each other for a long while. I always knew she was the one.”
The Proposal
“We had traveled to Bar Harbor, Maine to go hiking in Acadia National Park (which we love, it’s so beautiful there!). It was the morning of the day after we got there. We had wanted to go hiking in the morning and I was up and ready to hit the trails early but Sean said he wanted to get room service for breakfast before we were out all day. I was antsy to get to the trails before they got crowded so I had all of my hiking gear on and went out onto our patio that overlooked the Harbor where Sean had called me out to as he was finishing his breakfast.
So, I was standing there and he went in to hug me and then when he pulled away he got down on one knee and proposed! I was shocked, I couldn’t stop crying and shaking. It was a sweet moment between the two of us in one of our favorite places. Of course, we had been dating for 13 years I knew eventually we would get married but it was still a surprise to me!”
All about the ring
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the ring he got me! I was in disbelief that he picked out such a beautiful ring. It’s so me. I love the shape and style, the diamond on top and thin band is what I had always wanted! He traveled to NYC by himself to pick it out. We reminisced on his travels to get it when we got engaged, I kept asking him details and to tell me the story again. He’s so sweet.”
One thing they love about each other
“I love how sweet, funny and loving he is. He says I’m the only one who laughs at his jokes.”
“I love how caring and loving she is. From the first time I met her, I could tell she was a special person in my life. We support each other and care for one another which is the most important thing in our relationship.”
