Liz and Christian are some of the sweetest people and I loved capturing their Spring Lake engagement session this summer! They’re tying the knot next February at Park Chateau (a favorite of mine!), so we celebrated their upcoming winter wedding with a warm, summery engagement session. When we began discussing locations for their session, they mentioned they might want to use a beach or park for their session. Once I let them know that we could get a combination of both at Spring Lake, it was a no brainer! This is one of my favorite spots in New Jersey for this reason: the variety is amazing! Liz and Chris brought their adorable dog for their portraits at the park, too. He was so sweet and a great listener! After Liz and Chris changed, we headed down to the beach to wrap up the session with the prettiest cotton candy skies. There they had a little picnic with some champagne, and even got wet in the waves.
One of the best parts of getting to photograph engagement sessions is learning more about my couples. Liz and Chris met before a high school football game in 2006. Chris’s dad and Liz’s dance coach (who also happened to be Chris’s algebra teacher) came up with a plan to introduce the two freshmen. The two immediately hit it off and the rest is history! They got engaged in April and now they’re planning a timeless and elegant winter wedding day at Park Chateau for February! I’m so happy that they found each other and now they’re getting ready to make everything official. Congratulations again, Liz and Chris! I hope you enjoy looking back through your summer engagement session. It was absolutely beautiful!
We went to the Daily Treat diner in Ridgewood for our first date, where we ordered pancakes and french toast for dinner! Liz pretended not to like syrup because she thought it would make her seem fat. After dinner, the two went for a walk and Chris awkwardly made a big deal about how bright the stars were to try and hide how nervous he was about a potential first kiss.
When did you know they were the one?
We have been together since we were fourteen years old and, while there isn’t a particular moment that comes to mind, we have talked about eventually getting married since we were in high school. We went to college on opposite sides of the country (Chris in Massachusetts and Liz in California), which helped us grow individually and as a couple.
Chris knew exactly how to pick out the perfect ring for Liz, as he simply followed Liz’s instructions! The engagement ring is a round, 6 prong solitaire on a thin platinum band.
One thing they love about each other!
While Liz truly is the most caring and loving person I have ever met, the thing I might love most is her unique ability to somehow know the weird things I’m laughing about in my head.
If I have to choose JUST ONE THING I love about Chris, it’s his ability to just get me. We could spend everyday together doing anything and everything without ever getting sick of one another.
