The Couple
We are so excited to share this St. Patrick’s Cathedral wedding with you all! Not only because St. Patrick’s Cathedral is an absolutely amazing place to capture a wedding but because our couple, Michelle and Jonathan, have the most unique wedding story we have captured to date! It’s the first wedding we’ve photographed where the bride didn’t know the wedding date. Whaaaat?! Yup! Michelle knew she would be getting married this year, but she didn’t actually find out the exact date of the wedding until the week before when Jonathan proposed. With the help of their families and bridal party, Jonathan planned the most perfect day for his bride and the details of the day were revealed to Michelle throughout the week leading up to the wedding. How utterly romantic is that?! Now, you’re probably wondering about our bride’s dress. Well, when you’re a fashion designer and you know you’re getting married soon, the obvious thing to do is to design your own dress. Naturally! Once Michelle knew her wedding day was approaching, she designed a beautiful, one-of-a-kind beauty of a dress with a gorgeous cathedral veil to match. It was gray and complemented Jonathan’s suit perfectly!
The Wedding Day
Michelle started the day out in her hotel room at the Lotte New York Palace, overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral while Jonathan got ready at their apartment. The morning was full of smiles, laughter, and the retelling of Jonathan’s proposal story from a few short days before the wedding. I loved hearing about his surprise photo booth proposal during a recent trip – I think it’s safe to say that our groom has a knack for planning surprises! When it came time for Michelle to get into her wedding dress the excitement was palpable. Between Michelle’s happiness, her bridesmaids’ and family’s suspense over seeing her in her dress, and the sounds of the parade that was happening right outside the hotel, it was a joyful morning. Once it was time for the ceremony, we stopped the parade, crossed the street, and entered the stunning St. Patrick’s Cathedral. There were so many tourists, but the ceremony space was blocked off for Michelle and Jonathan’s relatives. Jonathan looked dapper in his gray suit and was all smiles while he waited for his beautiful bride. I have to say that the moment when Michelle started walking down the aisle was magical. There were probably hundreds of people in the cathedral at that point, but everyone stopped to admire Michelle and watch Jonathan as he waited for her to walk down the aisle. What an unforgettable moment that led to an equally memorable ceremony. My favorite part of the day was when Jonathan dipped Michelle for a kiss right at the altar before their recessional. Adorable! Enjoy this glimpse into this beautiful St. Patrick’s Cathedral wedding!
