Emily and Frank went to high school together and hung out in the same group of friends but didn’t actually interact much back then. It wasn’t until freshman year of college when they returned home for winter break that they began to date. Frankie went to College of Charleston and Emily went to Villanova University, so they didn’t think anything would come of it due to the four years of college they had left and the distance between them at that time. It was meant to be, though, and eight years later, here they are – engaged to be married!
On the day of their engagement session I met Emily and Frank for a sunrise shoot in Central Park. I love sessions in this iconic NYC location but I love it even more when they’re in the morning and we have the place all to ourselves. There’s something so special about taking a stroll in Central Park in the wee hours of the morning.
Emily and Frank have been engaged since last year and they are planning a classic winter wedding at Pleasantdale Chateau next month. We love this venue for its timeless and elegant style and can’t wait to see Emily and Frank’s wedding day come together. Their wedding will be here really soon so you’ll be seeing these two on the blog again before you know it!
Sunrise Engagement in Central Park
Their first date
Frankie came and picked me up in his jeep wrangler (I thought that was the coolest car at the time). He came to the door and met my parents, which impressed me because I knew how shy he was. We went to a local restaurant where Frankie’s best friend was our waiter. We were both a little nervous so having Scott there actually helped a lot!
The proposal
It was a Friday (the day after my birthday) and Frankie wanted to surprise me for lunch. I met him at his office and we ended up at Tavern on the Green for a delicious meal outside. Frankie was running in the NYC marathon the following weekend and they were putting up all of the stands, so he suggested we go for a little walk to see it all. We barely made it into the park when he had gotten down on one knee and popped the question. Our two best friends were behind the big rocks in Sheep Meadow and caught the whole thing!
All about the ring
The ring is a four prong solitaire with a simple band! I had always liked a simple yet beautiful ring and he sure nailed it! He went with his mom and my mom to pick it out.
One thing they love about each other
Emily: I love that Frankie can be quiet and serious one minute, then completely goofy the next. He keeps me grounded and in-touch with reality. I’ve never met someone more supportive.
Frank: I love Emily’s big, kind heart. She has a great sense of humor and I love how her positive attitude puts a smile on everyone’s face.
Their wedding vision and style
We are going for a classic winter wedding! Formal and fun. So close to Christmas, we are hoping to capture the love and joy that the season brings.
We hope you enjoyed this Sunrise Engagement in Central Park!
