Welcome to our 2019 wedding season! After four months off from shooting weddings to rest before welcoming our baby girl and then snuggle with her day in and day out, I re-entered the wedding world last Friday to shoot our first wedding of the year. I have to say that as much as I missed my little sweet pea, it was so good to be back to doing something that I love so much. Not to mention getting to spend the day interacting with adults, ha!
I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter couple to kick off the season. Heather and Chad were engaged over a year and a half ago when Chad planned the perfect beach proposal followed by a celebration with their closest family and friends. It was a dream proposal for these two and I loved hearing all about it when I met up with them last summer for their Laurita Winery engagement session. When it came to planning their wedding, a lot of their inspiration was drawn from experiences Heather and Chad have shared together – they even included their dog Charlie when they designed their wedding cake and favors. As far as style, they chose a shabby chic theme filled with simplicity and warm colors to go along with their easygoing personalities. I love that they each got ready at places that were meaningful to them – Heather at her parents’ home and Chad at the firehouse where he’s captain.
Once Heather and Chad each got ready for their big day with their loved ones, they headed over to Divine Park in Spring Lake for their first look and portrait session. We were so happy that it wasn’t raining (there had been a threat of rain earlier in the week) but we didn’t anticipate all the wind!! I will say that it made for some beautifully romantic veil photos! We ended up finishing up their portraits at their venue, The Mill Lakeside Manor. It was my first time shooting there since their big renovation so I enjoyed seeing all the changes. We were so thankful for such an elegant, clean backdrop to shield us from the wind!
When it came time for their ceremony, Heather and Chad had an interfaith Jewish ceremony. There was a threat of rain but we all crossed our fingers for it to hold out for the outdoor ceremony and we got pretty lucky as it only drizzled for a few minutes during the ceremony. I loved that the guests rolled with it and were either willing to get a little wet or simply took out their umbrellas. We all loved witnessing Heather and Chad’s marriage. They are just so happy together and make such a beautiful couple!
Heather and Chad, I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon in Antigua! I wish you the best time unwinding, relaxing, and spending time together as husband and wife.
