When booking your wedding with us, our couples often ask us why we recommend an engagement session before their wedding day. The #1 reason by far is to get acquainted with our shooting styles and practice posing for your wedding day. However, that’s not the only reason because there are so many great ways to use your engagement photos once you’ve had them taken! Below are our Top 10 Uses for Your Engagement Photos. I hope you find this post helpful and if you’re in the midst of planning your engagement session, be sure to check out this post, too: Top 10 Tips for Your Engagement Session.
1. Save The Dates
I don’t know about you but we rarely get anything fun in the mail nowadays. Not only is a Save The Date a great way to get your guests excited about your big day, but they are practical, too. You want to make sure that all your friends and family get an official notification of your wedding day so that they can mark their calendars, book flights, or get a babysitter for the kids. Save The Dates are best sent out around six months prior to your wedding day (add a couple of additional months if you’re having a destination wedding).
2. Thank You Cards
I remember when my husband Jay and I got engaged – no sooner had we announced our engagement that we started to receive engagement gifts from friends and family. What better way to send a thank you card than to personalize it with a photo from your engagement session? Your friends and family will love them! Be sure to order plenty of these, especially if you plan to have an engagement party!
3. Album
Creating an album with your engagement photos is the perfect way to make sure they live on to tell the story of your love, even years later when digital files become a thing of the past and USBs become old technology.
4. Prints for Your Home
Don’t let your special images collect dust on your hard drive; take advantage of this opportunity to print a nice photo or two of you and your fiancé to decorate the walls of your home.
5. Gift Prints
A nice print makes a perfect Christmas or Hannukah gift for parents, siblings, and grandparents! They are completely affordable and with a cute frame, they are an easy yet thoughtful gift to put together for a family member.
6. Wedding Website
A wedding website is a great way to communicate important wedding information but they are also a way for your friends and family to get to know your fiancé and your bridal party. And they also have a section for a photo gallery so you can share all of your engagement photos on there, too.
7. Guest Book
Use your engagement photos to create a wedding guest book for your guests to sign as they arrive at your wedding reception. You can leave blank pages throughout the book for well wishes from your guests or you can request that they leave marriage and love advice. Or both! Either way, you’ll get plenty of personalized messages that will be wonderful to read when you get back from your honeymoon.

9. Photo Gifts
10. Wall Displays
