Welcome to our new travel photography project! As many of you know, Jay and I have always loved to travel. Before we met, we had both traveled a lot on our own and those travel experiences were definitely something that drew us to each other from the start. Six years later, we have been to twenty-one countries together (Hard to believe that he reached #40 and I hit #35 during our honeymoon)! Since we both love photography, you know what that means, right? Yes, that means we have a helluva lot of photos. Sadly, most of our travel photos are just sitting on our hard drives, although some are scattered about in Flickr and Facebook albums so they have at least been enjoyed by some, but not many. Very few have been printed. And so begins this new project for us. We don’t have any rules for our project. Some posts may have one picture… some may have more. Some, probably most, will be posted by me… and some will be posted by Jay. Together we plan to share with you bits of the world as seen through our lens and we hope you will enjoy them.
First up is a set of photographs that are special to us for two main reasons. First, they are two of the first pictures that Jay and I took of each other during a trip. The year that we met he took me out to the Southwest for my birthday and we visited the region known as the Four Corners: Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. Sometime during this trip we fell in love, so in a way… this is where it all started. Before this trip I had never been inspired to do any domestic travel but Jay, who has been to the 48 continental United States, opened my eyes to a kind of travel that I had never known. This leads me to the second reason why these photos are so special to me: it was during this trip that I finally realized how beautiful our country is and that you really don’t need a passport to see amazing places like these. There are plenty of them in our very own backyard.
