The Couple
Katelyn and John met on FB when John popped up as a “suggested friend” for Katelyn. They had grown up in the same town and had mutual friends so Facebook’s algorithm, was pretty spot on, but it wasn’t until they started messaging that they got to know each other. They hit it off, ended up on a first date at Chart House, and she said yes about two years ago. They opted for a long engagement, much like Jay and I did when we planned our own wedding, and then chose the dreamiest location for their wedding. Katelyn has been going to Vermont since she was born so it was only natural for her to want to return there to tie the knot, and we’re so glad she did because it was the perfect fit for her and John.
I had the pleasure of meeting these two at their fall Skylands Manor engagement session and when they mentioned they were getting married at a castle in Vermont, I was certainly intrigued! It sounded like such a romantic wedding and Katelyn and John were such a joy to work with, I definitely daydreamed about shooting it! I figured they would get a local photographer, though, so after the engagement photos were delivered I was delighted when they reached out asking if we’d be willing to go to Vermont to capture their wedding day! We were so excited to not only get to work with such a sweet couple in an amazing location, but with a couple who really values photography, and were making it a priority on their wedding day.
The Wedding Day
Katelyn and John started the day off in separate rooms at the Castle Hill Resort and Spa. They each spent the morning surrounded by friends and family and enjoying the company of everyone who made the trip to Vermont to participate in their wedding day. Their wedding morning was full of special moments shared with so many special people in their lives in both the elegant rooms of the castle and the relaxing vibes of the spa; it was the perfect start to a wonderful day. When it came time for their first look, Katelyn and John chose to see each other for the first time near the ceremony location where they said their I Do’s later that day. These two were so excited to see each other, and their friends and family were thrilled to watch from afar. Jay and I loved getting to use all the different areas on the grounds surrounding the castle throughout the day, but we especially loved that Katelyn and John were so easygoing and willing to be out in the heat for so long during photos. Wedding days go by in the blink of an eye, and these two knew it, so they allowed us time to capture plenty of moments between them, their bridal parties, and their family. We were so thankful, because we really got to take full advantage of the castle and its grounds while documenting all their loved ones who traveled all the way from New Jersey and other locations to share their special day. It wasn’t easy choosing our favorite images for this preview, but here is a little peek into their beautiful Vermont destination wedding!
Katelyn and John, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to capture your love story! And thank you for the opportunity to get away right in the middle of wedding season, it was just what we needed! Have so much fun on your Mediterranean cruise and enjoy relaxing on the beaches of Italy and Greece!
